The program description is a short paragraph (300 words or less) that provides an overview of the program. This description may be used in the preliminary program brochure to inform prospective attendees about the educational content of the conference. The program description is also an opportunity to “sell” the program to the Meeting Planning Committee members.
In 200 words or less, describe why the program is important. The rationale should address the professional practice gaps that the session will meet. A professional practice gap is defined as a gap between what the professional is doing compared to what is achievable on the basis of current knowledge. What should participants practice that they are not doing currently? Gaps can be in knowledge, competence, performance, or patient outcomes and should be measurable.
